This year Connect For The Best expanded their community reach in partnership with the Hospitality Worker’s Training Centre (HWTC). Alongside supporting hospitality employers, CFTB and The HWTC are providing community members with training programs for room attendants, banquet servers and kitchen helpers. Developed to help meet the staffing needs of the industry, these programs help provide access to great jobs with advancement opportunities for people looking for work.
Our in-hotel and classroom programs ready participants for immediate hiring for permanent or temporary positions. It’s an opportunity to supplement income and gain experience in a promising new industry.
What began as the brainchild of 30-year hospitality veteran, Margaret Readings, has grown to involve a small team alongside a network of incredible organisations.
Margaret started in hotels in London in the 70’s. She’s worked her way up from front end supervisor to Director of Housekeeping, Hotel Manager, eventually working for Starwood’s corporate office. She knows the industry like no other and sees the challenges and solutions from both the managers' and the staff's position.
Day to day, Nicole keeps things running smoothly. She helps coordinate training, verify our workers and ensures the site operation is in tip top shape. Since starting with CFTB during a summer placement program, she has been vital to the site and has been full time since completing her Bachelor of Commerce in Tourism and Hospitality in 2013.
With a flair for internetting, Margaret’s daughter, Ashley, came onto the team in 2012 to help connect to people online. Managing social networking accounts and producing blog and newsletter content, she can often be found peering over her laptop with a latte in hand.
With CFTB from the beginning, Elora Consulting has helped bring every idea, whim and dream of Margaret’s to life. Building web and mobile software products for niche markets, their team of analysts, software engineers and product managers have become the cogs and wheels of CFTB. Elora enables its clients to think lean and build software with agility.
We’ve been lucky to work with hotels such as The Westin Harbour Castle, One King West, The Sheraton Centre, The Hilton, Don Valley Hotel, MTCC and the Delta Airport.
